Board/Committee Name:   Fire Code Board of Appeals

Purpose:   The purpose of Fire Code Board of Appeals is to establish within jurisdiction for the purpose of hearing applications for modification of the requirements of the International fire Code pursuant to the provision of Section 108 of the International Fire Code. The board shall be established and operated in accordance with this section, and shall authorize to hear evidence from appellants and the fire code official pertaining to the application and intent of this code for the purpose of issuing ord

General Qualifications:   Members and alternates shall be appointed based on their education, experience, and knowledge. Members shall be composed of individuals experienced in the following fields or professions: Engineering or architectural design; General contracting; Fire protection contracting; Fire department operations or code enforcement; Building code enforcement; Legal; General public.

Meeting Schedule:   This Board meets at the call of the chair, at such other times as the Board of Appeals determines, and within 30 days of the filing of a notice of appeal.

The purpose of the board of appeals is to establish within jurisdiction for the purpose of hearing applications for modification of the requirements of the International fire Code pursuant to the provision of Section 108 of the International Fire Code. The board shall be established and operated in accordance with this section, and shall authorize to hear evidence from appellants and the fire code official pertaining to the application and intent of this code for the purpose of issuing orders pursuant to these provisions. The board is comprised of seven principal members and one non-voting ex officio representative of the County. Each principal member shall be permitted to have an alternate with similar experience to serve in his or her stead when necessary. Members and alternates shall be appointed based on their education, experience, and knowledge. Members and alternates are appointed to 3-year terms.
