Board/Committee Name:   Cultural Resource Review Board

Purpose:   The purpose of the Cultural Resource Review Board is to advise the Board of County Commissioners regarding cultural, architectural, archaeological and historical resources of St. Johns County; and to identify, evaluate, document, and designate these resources. The primary responsibility of the Cultural Resource Review Board is to protect these resources that are important community assets which enrich the lives of citizens and visitors.

General Qualifications:   Appointees shall be qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience or education in the preservation of Cultural Resources. Members shall, when possible, have practical and professional experience in one or more of the following fields: archaeology, architecture or architectural history, curation or conservation, planning, professional engineering, real estate, history, historic preservation, or related disciplines.

Roster Info:   This Board was established in Section 3.01.02 of the County’s Land Development Code, adopted by the County Commission July 29, 1999. The CRRB is composed of five (5) regular members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners with representation from each of the five County Commission Districts, when possible and two (2) at-large members. Members shall be appointed to initial staggered terms. Members shall serve for a four-year term except for an appointment to fill an unexpired term, in which event, the appointment shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term only. Appointees shall be qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience or education in the preservation of Cultural Resources. Members shall, when possible, have practical and professional experience in one or more of the following fields: archaeology, architecture or architectural history, curation or conservation, planning, professional engineering, real estate, history, historic preservation, or related disciplines. The Board meets at 1:30pm the second Monday of every other month in Conference Room 1 of the St. Johns County Permit Center Building, 4040 Lewis Speedway.
