Plan submitted for review of a Tennant build out of a 30,000 SF Type IIA(II(000)) Construction, Sprinkled (NFPA 13), Fire Alarm (Sprinkler Monitoring), Ordinary Hazard Classification, Separated occupancies (Business, Class C Mercantile and Storage.

Plan reviewed for a buildout of a 23,630 SF Industrial (with storage non-separated) Occupancy, 4,250 SF Business Occupancy and 2,120 SF Class “C” Mercantile Occupancy. All occupancies separated from each other by one (1) hour fire rated partitions.

Reviewed using FFPC 8th edition effective Dec. 31, 2023. NFPA 1 and 101 references are Florida Editions of the code in the FFPC.

RESUBMITTING:
A. Make necessary changes and resubmit everything in person to the permit center. You may not make handwritten alterations on signed and sealed plan pages.
B. Once at the Permit Center swap out altered pages or insert new pages in EACH plan set (Job and Office). One copy of the removed/old pages from the JOB Copy will need to be submitted and marked "OLD". Do not forget to remove pages for work not associated to this permit. All plan papers must be the same size.
C. Provide a response to comments along with any supporting documentation. Response to comments is REQUIRED not optional.
- The response to comments sheet will need to include a response to each numbered comment and tell us where in the plans the comments was addressed. EX - "Top Left of Page E1-1" or "Page E1 Note 8".
- Code responses shall reference Florida Fire Prevention Code, 8th Ed.

 

1) Missing the Fire Protection Sheets. Sheet Index indicates there is at lease a “FP-1” Sheet that is to be included.

Provide the missing FP Sheets.

 

2) Plans appear to indicate the occupancies are separated and NOT mixed. Is this the correct?

 

3) Will there be any Special Locking Arrangements including Mag-Locks, Access-Control of Electrical Locking Systems, Delayed-Egress Electrical Locking Systems, Door Hardware Release of Electrically Locked Egress Door assemblies, etc. 101:7.2.1.6.1, 7.2.1.6.2, 7.2.1.6.3

 

4) Plans indicate industrial operation to be conducted in the area identified as “Storage”.

Update the occupancy classifications to include Industrial and verify the plans comply with Chapter 40 of NFPA 101.

 

5) Call out the Sub-Classification of the Industrial Occupancy. 101:40.1.2.1

 

6) Provide Emergency Lighting Photometrics demonstrating compliance with 101:7.9.2.1.1 [101:40.2.9].

 

7) The A/C systems do not appear to provide fire dampers when penetrating the Fire Partitions. 101:8.3.4.2.1

 

8) What type of manufacturing is being conducted in this facility?

 

9) Will there be any hazardous materials stored or manufactured? If Yes, Provide completed Hazardous Materials Inventory Statement in accord with NFPA 1:60.1.6, (See Section II (Hazardous Materials Inventory Statement) of “Hazardous Materials Management Plan” Annex C.3.1 of NFPA 400 (400:1.12.1), 2019 Edition. If material quantities exceed MAQ be prepared to show compliance with appropriate section of hazardous materials code (NFPA 1 Ch.60).

 

INFORMATIONAL ONLY NO RESPONSE NECESSARY:
At the time of fire final be prepared to provide a copy of the manufacturer specification sheets to the fire inspector showing that each interior finish will meet:

- Wall and ceiling finish will meet Class A, B or C. 101:38.3.3.2.2, 101:36.3.3.2

- Interior wall and ceiling finish materials complying with Section 10.2 shall be Class A, Class B, or Class C in operating areas and shall be as required by 7.1.4 in exit enclosures. 101:40.3.3.2

- Floor finish shall meet either: a) ASTM D 2859 for carpet and carpet like materials or b) has a minimum critical radiant flux of .1 W/cm2 for non-carpet flooring. 101:38.3.3.3.3.

If there are multiple finishes, label each spec sheet identifying each product, its location AND highlight the area showing illustrating it meets the applicable Code requirement.

 

INFORMATIONAL ONLY NO RESPONSE NECESSARY:
The system(s) outlined in this set of plans is conceptual.

A HOLD has been placed at insulation inspection (109) until either: a) a permit has been pulled or b) a letter submitted from respective system contractor indicating they evaluated that the existing system meets the occupancies Code requirements and no work to be done to the existing system to meet Code based on the work in this permit:

- Fire Alarm System (all sprinkler backflow electronically supervised [Fire Marshal Directive 22-001], 101:38.2.4.6(1) [HVLS Fans -M-101]
- Fire Sprinkler System [HVLS Fans – M-101]
- Fire underground
- In Building Radio Permit or Passing Test Report
