Plan reviewed for New Fire Sprinkler System consisting of a Fire Pump, Nitrogen Generator Corrosion Monitoring System, Wet and Dry Systems.

Above Ground Fire Sprinkler System connecting at 1’ AFF to the underground 10” Fire Line to a 2,000 GPM Model 1823BF horizontal split case Electric Fire Pump. To a 10” manifold with two (2) 6” wet Risers, one (1) 8” Riser and one (1) 4” Riser. The 6” remote FDC connecting to post Fire Pump at 10” Fire Pump bypass  

System #1: 6” Wet Riser to Zone #1 [40,016 SF], transitioning to a 2 ½” Dry Pipe protecting the Drive-Through Canopy.

System #2: 6” Wet Riser to Zones #2 [40,297 SF].

System #3: 8” Wet Riser to 44,201 Sf [44,201 SF], transitioning to a 6” Dry Pipe System with a Nitrogen Generator Monitoring System [Engineered Corrosion Solutions AG-2000] protecting the Garden Center.

System #4: 4” Wet Riser to In-Rack Sprinkler Zone.  

Reviewed using FFPC 8th edition effective Dec. 31, 2023. NFPA 1 and 101 references are Florida Editions of the code in the FFPC.

RESUBMITTING:
A. Make necessary changes and resubmit everything in person to the permit center. You may not make handwritten alterations on signed and sealed plan pages.
B. Once at the Permit Center swap out altered pages or insert new pages in EACH plan set (Job and Office). One copy of the removed/old pages from the JOB Copy will need to be submitted and marked "OLD". Do not forget to remove pages for work not associated to this permit. All plan papers must be the same size.
C. Provide a response to comments along with any supporting documentation. Response to comments is REQUIRED not optional.
- The response to comments sheet will need to include a response to each numbered comment and tell us where in the plans the comments was addressed. EX - "Top Left of Page E1-1" or "Page E1 Note 8".
- Code responses shall reference Florida Fire Prevention Code, 8th Ed.

 

1) Applicable Codes on Sheet FP1.0 calls out 7th Edition of the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPA), 2016 Editions of NFPA 13 & 20, 2018 Edition of NFPA 30, and 2019 Edition of NFPA 30B.

The current edition of the FFPC is the 8th Edition consisting of 2021 Editions of NFPA 1 and 101 (FL Editions). The current additions of adopted NFPA Standards are: 2019 ED. NFPA 13, 20, & 30B, 2021 Ed. Of NFPA 30. [FAC 69A-3.012]

Update the Applicable Codes section to reflect the current adopted codes and verify the plans are designed to the current editions noted. Note that there are several Code References throughout the plans. Update these code references and verify the plans are in compliance with the current code editions.

 

2) Sheet FP1.0 shows Owner Certificate information, but a signed Owner’s Certificate has not been provided. The owners certificate also contains code references related to the IFC (International Fire Code. NFPA 13:4.2

Provide a completed and signed Owners Certificate updated with Code References from the Florida Fire Prevention Code and adopted NFPA Standards. Verify the Maximum Allowable Quantities [MAQ] are within the MAQ limits permitted by NFPA 1. FAC 69A-3.012

 

3) The Symbol Key on the Sheet provides minimal information on the sprinkler heads shown in the sprinkler layout on the Sheet. I do not see the make, type, model, Temperature, and nominal K-factor of sprinklers, including sprinkler identification number. for each sprinkler represented in the drawings as well as the individual head count for each head in the drawings on the Sheet. NFPA 13:27.1.3(13),(16),(17)

Update the Sprinkler Information to include the information noted above.

 

4) Provide detailed elevation view(s) of the Nitrogen Generator System installed with all components identified.
