Plan reviewed for 4" extension of underground fire main to serve fire sprinkler system inside clubhouse. (Note: FDC tees off fire sprinkler line before entering building.) Reviewed using FFPC 8th edition effective Dec. 31, 2023.

Review by the AHJ shall not relieve the applicant of the responsibility for compliance with the Code.

Plan is REJECTED. Please address the following comments:

 

1. Fire Dept Connection shall have check valve to keep dry. (NFPA 13) Show this on the plan or provide a separate detail how this will be accomplished.

 

2. FDC connections on piping LARGER than 2 inches shall be equipped with a five (5) inch Storz connection and shall have a 30 degree downward deflection. NFPA 24:5.9.1.2, and 5.9.2.4

Provide detail how this will be accomplished and submit a cut-sheet of the storz connection.

 

3. It is noted a submittal sheet for a PIV was submitted. Indicate on the plan where this will be installed.

 

4. The plan calls for a gate valve where the fire main is extended. Provide a submittal sheet for this gate valve.

 

5. There is an existing Backflow preventer at the street. The BFP is required to be electronically monitored. A conduit is required to be installed from the BFP to the clubhouse to allow the fire alarm contractor to install the fire alarm wiring. Indicate on the plan this will be accomplished.

 

6. The BFP is required to have freeze protection. Provide submittal sheet of the material that will be used to accomplish this requirement. (NFPA 24:12.2.3)

**General Requirements:
- Top of the pipe shall be buried not less than 2 1/2 ft to prevent mechanical damage (NFPA 24:10.4.2.2.2)
- Pipe under driveways shall be buried at a minimum depth of 3 ft (NFPA 24:10.4.2.2.3)


**Pipe being installed is required to be pressure tested. If it is an extension of existing pipe, new pipe must be isolated by a valve or the entire pipe will be required to be pressurized back to the backflow preventer.**
