Plans for the installation of 3 CaptiveAire kitchen hoods as indicated below:
Hood 1- 12' indicated to have 12x12 ducts Hood 2- 9' abutted to hood 3 indicated to have 12x14 ducts Hood 3- 8' abutted to hood 2 indicated to have 12x14 ducts Hood 4- Type II hood not included in this review

RESUBMITTING: Please make necessary changes and resubmit the complete permit application package. Response to comments / plans / specifications must be submitted to the Permit Center as a resubmission for the original project.
Effective 1/01/2022 you must include a written response to comments summary to clarify and illustrate corrections on plans (bubbling, highlighting, or notations are best). Please use the Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th Ed. for all code reference in a response to comments. You are required to remove old pages and reinsert the new pages.
Resubmittals will not be approved without a response to comments.

1) What is the wall behind the hood and the cooking equipment constructed of? Demonstrate compliance with NFPA 96:4.2 or 4.2.3 all the way from the top of the hood to the floor.

2) On the roof plan provided, identify or callout the exhaust fans and makeup air applicable to your submittal. This can be by clouding, highlighting, notations etc. NFPA 96:7.8.2.1.

3) The exhaust fan does not indicate that it is provided with a hinge, hold open retainer and flexible conduit. NFPA 96:7.8.2.1, 8.1.2.1.

4) Provide manufacturers specification sheets for all equipment and components including but not limited to: upblast fan (8.1.1), filters(6.1.1,6.2.3.1), hood lights(9.2.2), etc.

5) How will you ensure that the cooking equipment will be returned to its original location? Demonstrate compliance with NFPA 96:12.1.2.3.1.

6) Will the ducts be fabricated or listed assemblies. If listed provide the listing information. Also indicate the sealant that is required in the listing as well as the testing method.
Hood 1 on sheet 1, and hood 2 and 3 on sheet 4 show a round duct on the diagram, however the measurements provided are LxW measurements which indicate fabricated square duct. Provide clarification. If listed duct is proposed provide duct isometric from CaptiveAire.

7) Provide an elevation view from the hood all the way to the exhaust fan. Indicate any changes of direction, location of cleanouts, and clearance to combustibles.

8) 3m duct wrap is indicated, provide spec sheets.

9) Provide manufacturers specifications for the cooking equipment. NFPA 96:12.1.1

10) Vertical Duct: Identify the height of any required duct openings (cleanouts). If not easily accessible from the ground or a 10’ step ladder, safe access and a work platform will be required per NFPA 96:7.4.2.3.

11) Mechanical floor plans have been provide on sheets M301 and M302 but the plans are very busy. Identify on the plans where the 3 hoods are located, this can by clouding, highlighter, or whatever means necessary.

12) Show and label equipment that will be installed underneath the hood. Equipment is indicated, but it is not labeled to what it is.
