1) Provide plan cross section/ elevation views in accordance with NFPA 13:23.1.3(4).
| |
2) Provide the riser and antifreeze main valve placards as indicated in NFPA 13:7.6.1.4 and 7.6.1.5.
| |
3) What is the volume of the antifreeze system?
| |
4) I do not see the remove drain and test for the antifreeze system indicated on the plans. NFPA 13:7.6.3.6.

5) Fire Department Connection
The fire department connection is unclear. It appears by the detail that the FDC will be located on the building however the not callout indicates that the site fire line leading to the FDC is being installed by others which leads me to believe that it may be a remote (yard) FDC. The underground has not been submitted yet, so that is not clear. Provide clarification.

6) FDC connection on piping up to 2 inches shall be equipped with a Double Clapper Siamese Connection.
FDC connections on piping LARGER than 2 inches shall be equipped with a five (5) inch Storz connection and shall have a 30 degree downward deflection.
This applies to all FDC’s regardless being on a building or free standing.
NFPA 24:5.9.1.2, and 5.9.2.4

7) Remove the background shading/texture from the plans or darken the underlying floor plan features. The shading makes it difficult to see what is underneath, and will especially when the office copy is scanned into records.
| |
8) Identify the stair construction on the plans. Even if noncombustible shaft and stairs, I do not see the head under the first accessible landing for stair B as required by NFPA 13:8.15.3.2.1. If under the stair is blocked off per 8.15.3.2.3.1 to alleviate this head, indicate this on the plans.
| |
9) Indicate the roof pitch on the plans for the areas being protected with attic sprinklers to demonstrate compliance with table A of the provided specs.
| |
10) Sheet FP1.2C shows several dry uprights on the page, it is unclear what these are for based on a 2D floor plan. Ensure that this is clarified when you submit the elevation views as indicated in comment 1.
| |
11) I do not see any pump information indicated in the plans or calculations. Provide the pump information and specs that was used in designing the system.
| |
12) Indicate on the plans and or calculations that this is a NFPA 13 system.
| |
13) Sheet FP1.3C shows the TY4182 as model BB1 in the head legend. In the specs provided, the TY4182 is model BB3. If the SIN number on your plans is correct, based on table "A" in the head specs the calculations fall short. TY4182 (BB3) per specs requires 40gpm and 25psi. Only 38gpm and 22.6 psi were provided on the calcs. If the model BB1 is correct, make the necessary change to the SIN number on the plans, at which point the flow and pressure are fine. Once corrected double check all remote areas for accuracy.
