This review covers the underground fire main for 6 private FHs and 7 buildings (6 (4 story) apts and maintenance bldg.)

Plan APPROVED for private fire main beginning at 8" RPDA BFP to be freeze protected to a (fire pump-installed by others-separate permit) inside pump house and back out to 8" DR-18 to supply 6 private fire hydrants around the complex and supply 6 apartments with 6" PIVs and 6" fire sprinkler risers to finish 1 ft above finish floor. (2470 feet +/- 8" DR-18 and 290 feet +/- 6" DR-18)

***NOTE TO FIRE PLAN REVIEWER FOR ABOVEGROUND SPRINKLER: FDCs on buildings and check valves required at bottom of fire risers.***

***HOLD 109 placed on maintenance building for fire pump permit.***

Provide a conduit from Backflow preventer to fire pump house to allow BFP to be electronically monitored.

General Requirements:
- Top of the pipe shall be buried not less than 2 1/2 ft to prevent mechanical damage (NFPA 24:10.4.2.2.2)
- Pipe under driveways shall be buried at a minimum depth of 3 ft (NFPA 24:10.4.2.2.3)
- All aboveground pipe (including backflow) shall be protected against freezing. (NFPA 24:12.2.3)

Fire Hydrant shall: 
- painted red to indicate private (LDC 6.03.03.C.10)
- set on flat stone or concrete slab (NFPA 24:7.1.3)  
- outlet threads are NHS external threads (NFPA 24:7.1.2)  
- center hose outlet not less than 18 in. above final grade and facing the roadway (NFPA 24:7.3.3)
