Response to comments / plans / specifications should be submitted to the Permit Center as a resubmission for the original project unless other arrangements are made with the Fire Plan Reviewer or the Fire Plan Review Supervisor.

Please use the Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th Ed. for all code reference in a response to comments. You are required to remove old pages and reinsert the new pages.

6) Looking at page A-2.01 common area doors, I do not see anything showing that fire rated doors or smoke doors will be provided with self closing or automatic closing hardware. 101:8.3.3.3.5   101:8.4.3.5   101:30.3.6.2.3

NOTE: Do not forget smoke separation and of : a) doors that open on to exit access corridors (including elec room and mechanical) and b) storage rooms outside of dwelling units. 101:30.3.2.1.1

Please refer to the revised Sheet A-1.02 which includes the required panic hardware and smoke seal hardware to be provided for specific door types."

Make sure all door hardware on fire rated doors are fire rated.

A HOLD has been placed at insulation inspection (109) until a permit has been pulled :

- Fire alarm system (PIV tamper req page F101 sprinkler DC and several trade offs, tie some fire smoke dampers H606 and E420, tie in fire pump/and horn strobe to this building according to top left of E460 "monitor fire pump and switches from building 5 fire alarm system")

**INFORMATIONAL ONLY NO RESPONSE NECESSARY:
At the time of fire final be prepared to provide a copy of the manufacturer specification sheets to the fire inspector showing that each interior finish will meet:

- wall and ceiling finish in exit enclosure will meet class A.

- wall and ceiling finish in lobbies and corridors will meet class A or B.

- Wall and ceiling finish will meet Class A, B or C. 101:30.3.3.2.

- floor finish in exit enclosures and corridor shall be not less than class II.

- Floor finish shall meet either: a) ASTM D 2859 for carpet and carpet like materials or b) has a minimum critical radiant flux of .1 W/cm2 for non-carpet flooring. 101:30.3.3.3

If there are multiple finishes, label each spec sheet identifying each product, its location AND highlight the area showing illustrating it meets the applicable Code requirement.

This building is required to have a third party contractor conduct a two-way radio communication test in accordance with NFPA 1:11.10 and NFPA 1221 (2016 ED.) prior to the 105 framing inspection. 

-If it passes the inspection radio testing at the framing stage, you will need to submit this information as a revision so the hold maybe removed. 

- If the third party paperwork indicates the test is not satisfactory, to have hold removed you will need to submit : the unsatisfactory test paperwork, outline of corrective measures, and plans to illustrate the corrective measures to meet requirements provided by the design professional.  Then at the final, you will be required to provide satisfactory testing by the third party contractor following the installation of the in building radio enhancement system.

St Johns County Fire Rescue’s radio control frequency is 853.8875.

The required in building radio system requires lightening protection. Systems shall have lightening protection that complies with NFPA 780. At this time the fire department will not review or inspect this type of system. This office requires a 3rd party inspection. The installing contractor will be required to provide certification documentation to the fire inspector at the time of fire final indicating the lightening protection is in compliance with NFPA 780 and UL96A.

It is recommended that CO alarms or detection systems cover 1st floor interior corridors between apartment units and garages.
