16) A risk analysis in accordance with 9.14 must be performed to determine if a mass notification system is required. NFPA 101:12.3.4.5, 14.3.4.5.
-----------
Wednesday, July 8, 2026 PJW- Per RTC, "A risk analysis has been performed and has been attached to this resubmittal."
Wednesday, July 8, 2026 PJW Reviewer Response- A very nice risk analysis provided digitally signed and sealed by Hamid Bahadori PE. The analysis indicates that the already proposed voice evacuation fire alarm system is sufficient to convey messages to the building occupants during non fire emergencies. It also indicates additional remote microphone stations would increase access to the system by providing additional remote microphone stations in administrative office areas on each floor. This will be verified during fire alarm shop drawing submittal.
The only issue with the report is that it is digitally signed and sealed. Per Florida Administrative Code 61G15-23, the acceptable seals are Wet Seals, Embossing Seals, or digitally created seals which must be physically signed (61G15-23.003). I have no way to verify the authenticity of digitally sealed plans. (FAC 61G15-23.004)

21) Dance studio 155 is indicated with the occupant load factor of 50 which is for exercise rooms with equipment. No equipment is indicated. Either show the equipment layout on the plans, or modify the occupant load factor used. NFPA 101:7.3.1.2
---------------
Thursday, July 9, 2026 PJW- Per RTC, "Dance studio revised to 1:20 occupant load for classrooms."
Thursday, July 9, 2026 PJW Reviewer Response- The 20 factor for classrooms is intended for a typical classroom setup with student desks or tables with chairs that limit the occupancy. The appropriate factor for this space is 15 which is exercise rooms without equipment(assembly use), unless equipment is shown. If the occupant load exceeds 49 utilizing this factor, a second means of egress from this room will be required.

---------------
Thursday, July 9, 2026 PJW- Per RTC, "It is an electric kiln. See attached specifications for more details."
Thursday, July 9, 2026 PJW Reviewer Response- Please provide the furnace class as indicated above based on NFPA 86:4.1.1.3 as defined in Chapter 3. This is based on what the furnace will be used for, not the furnace itself. In addition what was provided appears to be a buyers guide, which has some good information. 49) Plans indicate that motion sensors will be used in the areas of egress. Provide a specific note and detail on the electrical sheets to indicate how you will comply with the following:
NFPA 101 7.8.1.2.2: (1) Switch controllers must be listed, (2) Switch controllers equipped for fail-safe operation and evaluated for this purpose, (3) Timers be set for a minimum 15 minute duration, (4) Motion sensor be activated by any occupant movement in the area served by lighting units. (5) If building has a fire alarm, activation of fire alarm must activate the switch controller. (6) Lighting control device may not turn off any lights realized upon for activation of photo luminescent exit signs or path markers. (7) Lighting control devices may not turn off any battery equipped emergency luminaries, unit equipment or exit signs.
Detail E-701.2 does not reference the fire alarm tie in as required above.

Friday, July 10, 2026 PJW- Per RTC, "E501.2- Revised note #7 on the lighting control schedule".
Friday, July 10, 2026 PJW Reviewer Response- Our office has had consistent difficulties with compliance of this section for previous projects. In addition to the note 7 that you provided, I ask that you provide more detail at this time about the tie in, so we do not have any issues once the project progresses and the fire alarm plans are submitted.
Provide a detail showing how the lighting control system connection will be made to the fire alarm system, whether it be by relay, or direct connection to the lighting control system. In addition demonstrate on the plans the locations where these connections will be made, so the fire alarm contractor can identify the connections on his future shop drawing submittal.
Trust me when I tell you that this will make all of our lives easier as construction progresses.
