Plans for a private fire service main for the Costco project. The scope of the project is as follows:
Tap off of the existing 12" water main at World Commerce Parkway to a 10" DCDA backflow preventer 185 feet of 10" DR18 pipe that "T's" into an 1803' foot 10" loop around Costco. The loop includes 6 private fire hydrants, and a 33' long 10" DR18 sprinkler lead in terminating at 1'FF. The FDC will be a Storz connection located near a hydrant that will also terminate 1'AFF to be tied into the riser later by the aboveground contractor. Also off of the loop is a 466' 6" DR18 run to a private hydrant located out in the parking lot. There are 7 private hydrant total.

RESUBMITTING: Please make necessary changes and resubmit the complete permit application package. Response to comments / plans / specifications must be submitted to the Permit Center as a resubmission for the original project.
Effective 1/01/2022 you must include a written response to comments summary to clarify and illustrate corrections on plans (bubbling, highlighting, or notations are best). Please use the Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th Ed. for all code reference in a response to comments. You are required to remove old pages and reinsert the new pages.
Resubmittals will not be approved without a response to comments.

1) The hydrant detail provided does not include the slab as indicated in NFPA 24:7.3.1.

2) Indicate that the backflow will be insulated and provide specs for the insulation per NFPA 24:6.5.2

3) FDC connection on piping up to 2 inches shall be equipped with a Double Clapper Siamese Connection.
FDC connections on piping LARGER than 2 inches shall be equipped with a five (5) inch Storz connection and shall have a 30 degree downward deflection.
This applies to all FDC’s regardless being on a building or free standing.
NFPA 24:5.9.1.2, and 5.9.2.4
Update the FDC detail and specification sheets.

4) Provide a sectional valve in the loop in accordance with 24.6.6.1. Fire protection connections exceed 6.

5) A control valve is required within 20' of the hydrant that is out in the parking lot. 24:7.1.1.2, 7.1.1.2.1. Currently the only valve indicated is where the 6" main ties into the loop.

6) Informational, not code related
The 3" bury tape that is indicated in the specs is only good for up to 28" bury depth, the pipe for this project will be at 36" depth. It does not appear that the 3" will be sufficient.
