Plans for a 6" DR 18 underground fire main, that will supply the fire sprinkler system and 2 private fire hydrants. The main will terminate 1'AFF using an in building riser. The FDC is remote and will be tied into the riser.

RESUBMITTING: A. Make necessary changes and resubmit everything in person to the permit center. B. Once at the Permit Center swap out altered pages or insert new pages in EACH plan set (Job and Office). One copy of the removed/old pages from the JOB Copy will need to be submitted and marked "OLD". Do not forget to remove pages for work not associated to this permit. All plan papers must be the same size. C. Provide a response to comments along with any supporting documentation. Response to comments is REQUIRED not optional. - The response to comments sheet will need to include a response to each numbered comment and tell us where in the plans the comments was addressed. EX - "Top Left of Page E1-1" or "Page E1 Note 8". - Code responses shall reference Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th Ed.

1) Remove the note indicating approval of plans do not include approval for private underground water main.....
This review is for the approval of the underground.

2) FDC connection on piping up to 2 inches shall be equipped with a Double Clapper Siamese Connection.
FDC connections on piping LARGER than 2 inches shall be equipped with a five (5) inch Storz connection and shall have a 30 degree downward deflection.
This applies to all FDC’s regardless being on a building or free standing.
This includes Standpipe FDC's.
NFPA 24:5.9.1.2, and 5.9.2.4

3) Provide a FDC detail. Ensure that it is Storz, and that it shows the check valve and drain. NFPA 24:5.9.3.1, 5.9.4.1.

4) The main shown in the plans stops short of the building. Per FSS 633.334(3) the underground is to terminate 1' above finished floor. Show continuation to building and note 1'AFF termination.

5) The specs provided for the FDC are for a Siamese. Provide the storz specifications.

6) Provide a hydrant detail. Ensure that the slab under the hydrant is shown per NFPA 24:7.3.1. The annex has an image of this requirement. Just FYI the county and JEA standard details do not show this requirement.

7) What size main is the FDC main?

8) Identify the bury depth on the plans. NFPA 24:4.1.3(8)(8h), 24:10.4.2.

9) Show the hydrant valve on the plans. Ensure that it is no more than 20 feet from the hydrant. NFPA 24:7.1.1.2, 7.1.1.2.1.

10) The hydrant at the rear of the building is closer than 40 feet to the building (approx. 20'). Hydrant cannot be within 40 of the building per 24:7.2.3.

11) Show the pipe lengths on the plans for each segment. NFPA 24:4.1.3(8)(8b)
