RESUBMITTING:  Please make necessary changes and resubmit the complete permit application package. We do not accept responses to comments/ plans/ specifications through email. Contact Building department for resubmittals.

To help speed the review process you should include a written comment response summary to clarify or illustrate corrections on plans (bubbling, highlighting or notations are best).  Please use the Florida Fire Prevention Code 6th Ed for all code reference in a response to comments. The fire plans examiner does not use the Florida Building Code. You are required to remove old pages and reinsert the new pages.

The numbered items require a response or plans to be updated to complete the review.

 

1) Do not resubmit until clearance sheet acquired.

REVIEWER: Do not forget to add holds, outside seating shown on site plan and check site reviewer's comments.

 

2) An ENGINEERED signed and sealed Design Criteria for the fire alarm system over $5000.00 is required to be submitted with the general construction documents. FBC 105.3.1.2  We are unable to approve the plan until this information is provided. (The Design Criteria is not a full set of shop drawings.) THIS IS WHAT IS REQUIRED BY FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 61G15-32.008,(A-O) Design of Fire Alarms and Detection Systems.

If fire alarm will not be over $5000 provide letter from fire alarm contractor indicating cost.

NOTE: Page E401 shows alarm will be monitored, duct detectors tied in, 3 x type I kitchen hoods tied in, occupancy sensors.

 

INFORMATIONAL ONLY NO RESPONSE NECESSARY:
The system(s) outlined in this set of plans is conceptual.

A HOLD has been placed at framing (105) until either: a) a permit has been pulled or b) a letter submitted from respective system contractor indicating no work to be done to the existing system:
- fire alarm system
- fire sprinkler system
- fire underground
- kitchen hood (3 x type I hood : hood 2, 3 and 4 on page M302)
- kitchen suppression system

 

At the time of fire final be prepared to provide a copy of manufacturer specification sheets to the fire inspector showing that each interior finish will meet:

- wall and ceiling finishes meet Class A and B in the lobby. 101:12.3.3.2

- wall and ceiling finishes meet Class A, B or C other than in the lobby. 101:12.3.3.3

- floor finishes meet either: a) ASTM D 2859 for carpet and carpet like materials or b) has a minimum critical radiant flux of .1 W/cm2 for non carpet flooring. 101:12.3.3.5.3

- combustible scenery of cloth, film, vegetation, fabrics and similar materials shall meet NFPA 701 OR have a heat release that does not exceeding 100kW when tested in accordance with NFPA 289. 101:12.4.6.11.1   101:12.7.4

If there are multiple finishes, label each spec sheet identifying each product, its location AND highlight the area showing illustrating it meets the applicable Code requirement.

 

3) Page E101 and E401 indicates that motion sensors will be used in the areas of egress. Plans do not show compliance with NFPA 101 7.8.1.2.2....specifically page E401 calls for 12 minute time out. Make sure to address all of 101:7.8.1.2.2 including (5).

 

4) The following items from the sprinkler design criteria are incomplete or unaddressed. An ENGINEERED sealed Design Criteria for a fire sprinkler system exceeding 49 heads is required to be submitted with the general construction documents. We are unable to approve the plan until all this information is provided.  FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 61G15-32.004, (A-M)

e) Page FP10 indicates "water main is shown on civil drawings". Again this is required to be identified on signed and sealed sprinkler design criteria.

i) again FP10 references see civil drawings. State of Florida required the sprinkler EOR to include this within sprinkler design criteria.
