Thursday, December 19, 2019 Code summary updated to include mixed use education, day care and assembly use. Now I will review to check compliance with the assembly chapter.

 

RESUBMITTING:  Please make necessary changes and resubmit the complete permit application package. We do not accept responses to comments/ plans/ specifications through email. Contact Building department for resubmittals.

To help speed the review process you should include a written comment response summary to clarify or illustrate corrections on plans (bubbling, highlighting or notations are best).  Please use the Florida Fire Prevention Code 6th Ed for all code reference in a response to comments. The fire plans examiner does not use the Florida Building Code. You are required to remove old pages and reinsert the new pages.

The numbered items require a response or plans to be updated to complete the review.

A HOLD has been placed at framing (105) until a permit has been pulled :
- fire alarm system (EOR Kenneth W Hunter E2.2 and E3.0)
- fire sprinkler system (EOR Matthew D Lewis FP0.1, FP1.1, FP1.2 includes attic)

2) Fire alarm design criteria is not complete. The A-O of 61g15-32.008 is to be submitted with the general construction documents. Point out the missing information on the signed and sealed pages from Fire Alarm EOR Kenethh W Hunter. Missing or incomplete fire alarm design criteria items: a, b, c, e, f, g, h, I, o

Make sure all shut off valves on sprinkler supervised (including the backflow). This should be addressed under b. 101:14.3.6  101:14.2.11.1.2  101:16.2.11.1.2(1)  101:16.3.6(2)

a) occupancy

b) nothing addressing valves on sprinkler supervised (including the backflow). 101:14.3.6

e) nothing provided to identify monitored or annunciated functions required by the alarm and control systems

3) Occupant load for activity room calculated at 50sfpp. This space also needs to be calculated using maximum probable population (101:14.1.7.1  101:16.1.7.1). If this intends to be used as an assembly also (lunch, events, graduation, parties...) calculate using 101:7.3.1.2.

Make sure any items triggered by an increase in occupant load will be addressed also.

At the time of fire final be prepared to provide a copy of manufacturer specification sheets to the fire inspector showing that each  finish will meet:

- wall and ceiling finish in corridor must meet class A. 101:16.3.3.2  101:12.3.3.2

- wall and ceiling finish other than corridors must meet class A or B 101:14.3.3.2  101:16.3.3.2  101:12.3.3.3

- floor finish in exit access corridors must meet Class I or II. 101:14.3.3.3.2  101:16.3.3.2  101:12.3.3.5.2

- floor finish other than in exit access corridors - either: a) ASTM D 2859 for carpet and carpet like materials or b) has a minimum critical radiant flux of .1 W/cm2 for non carpet flooring. 101:14.3.3.3.3  101:16.3.3.3   101:12.3.3.5.3

If there are multiple finishes, label each spec sheet identifying each product, its location AND highlight the area showing illustrating it meets the applicable Code requirement.

5) Do not see that laundry is fire separated from remainder of the building. 101:14.3.2.1(2)(a)

NOTE: Do not forget to up date door page showing door(s) will be fire rated with self closer. Not sure how a sliding door will meet all fire door requirements.

Thursday, December 19, 2019 Page A2.0 now shows laundry is 1 hr fire separated. PageA8.0 shows doors being fire rated. Make sure fire rated doors have all fire rated hardware (frames, closing devices, anchorage and sills) as required by 101:8.3.3.

Any assembly room/space without fixed seating and that is over 50 will need to be posted at the final.

The occupant load shall be posted in a conspicuous place near the main entrance/exit from the room. The Posting should read,"Maximum Occupant Load ______ Persons, by order of the Fire Marshal"  NFPA 101 12/13.7.9.3
