2) It is not clear by looking at the plans in comparison with the aerial where on site the work is being performed.  Provide either a key type plan or a site plan indicating the location of the work in relation to the other structures on the site.  Also provide a code summary indicating what codes and what occupancy classification the work is designed to as well as the construction type.

3) With no life safety plan and no exit signage indicated, it is unclear what is proposed for means of egress.  The plan need to indicate proposed exit locations, travel distance, common path of travel, dead end corridors etc.

Note: Evaluate the existing "not in this project" spaces to ensure that the addition does not affect egress from those spaces.  If egress from the addition utilizes the existing spaces, those spaces will need to be included in the scope of this permit.

4) Emergency lights nor exit signs are shown on the plans. Identify locations of both, and provide specifications for the proposed lights so I can verify coverage.  Also identify the designated egress path that must meet the illumination requirements for the emergency lighting.  Also ensure that appropriate exit access signage is provided where needed.

5) Identify the class of animal housing facility, Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3.  The space can be classified as multiple classifications.  Identify on the plans if multiple classifications exist and whether it is designed as separated or mixed in accordance with NFPA 150
(2013) 6.2.  Then see and comply with the applicable chapter (11,12 or 13).

6) Identify the category of animals that will be housed here, Category A or Category B.  NFPA  150:6.3.   If Class A, also see section 9.8.

7) What is the building construction type classification?  See NFPA 150 table 7.2.2 regarding area allowances and construction limitations based on this classification.

8) See NFPA 150 section 8.1.2.1 for number of means of egress requirements and separation requirements, 8.1.2.2 for minimum width of doors, and 8.1.2.4 for travel distances.  These are unique for animal housing facilities.

9) Interior finish must meet class A, B, or C in accordance with ASTM E84 or Ansi/ul 723.    NFPA 150:10.1.1.2.

10) Lightning protection is required regardless of the classification of the animal housing facility.  This applies to the entire building and must be in accordance with NFPA 780 Standard for the installation of lightning protection systems.

11) Confirm the square footage of the addition and the total square footage of the addition including the connected (existing) buildings.

12) Note: Additional comments may be generated once the animal housing classification, category of animals, and construction type is provided.
