1) Demising walls fire rating noted on Sheet A1.0 as 1 hour. According to our records the occupancies on each side of this unit are mercantile (T-Mobile and Fire House Subs). The separation requirements for this occupancy (Assembly) from the mercantile units is 2 hours. 101 - Table 6.1.14.4.1(b).
a) Provide two (2) hour separation for both demising walls and show the rated wall elevation in the plan set. OR,
b) Provide a letter from the fire alarm monitoring company that the Fire Sprinkler Back Flow Preventers control valves and ALL above ground fire sprinkler control valves are being monitored for tamper.
----------------------------------
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Response: Fire sprinkler system is not being monitored. Two hour rated wall assemblies are indicated on sheet A1.0.
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Reviewers Response: Floor and Equipment plan on Sheet A1.0 indicates that the demising walls are both 1 (identified by wall type A1) hour and 2 hour (identified by wall type A2), or, partial 1 hour and partial 2 hour rated demising walls.
The entire demising wall is to be 2 hour rated.
Thursday, March 24, 2022, 1245 hrs. DF: Mr. Sullivan called regarding demising wall rating. He will notate the wall being 2 hour entire length. Any question please contact him at 480-296-5809.

2) Occupant Load shown on sheet G1.0 has the occupant load at 49. The Occupant Load Table uses a factor of 50 (w/equipment) for calculating the Studio (gym) space.
Based on equipment layout and the number of equipment stations (Delta Rigs and Weight Bench’s,) the occupant load for the Studio 49 (Delta rigs – 24, Weight Benches – 24, Instructor Platform – 1). The Lobby occupant load (approximate 315 SF / 7 + receptionist and two benches) places the unit over 50 occupants.
Studio 49 + Lobby 45 + Receptionist 1 + 2 benches (4+4) 8 = 103 persons.
Based on an assembly calculation for the unit, the occupant load is: 103 Persons
Update the Occupant Load Table to reflect the correct occupant load calculations.
----------------------------------
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Occupant load on sheets G0.0 and G1.0 have bee updated and now shows an occupant load of 99 persons.

5) Doors 102, 103 & 104 do not provide enough information to determine if they comply with 101:7.2.1.5.10.2 (One Releasing Mechanism).
The door’s latching/locking arrangement is required to be of a One Releasing Mechanism (integrated lock and latch) and shall open the door leaf with no more than one (1) releasing operation.
Example: You should be able to open a “locked” door by turning the door handle and push/pull open the door leaf “without” unlocking the door first. The Fire Inspector will at time of the Fire Final verify compliance with this requirement.
----------------------------------
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Door comment #9 indicates the latch/locks will be one release mechanism type.

6) The laundry room does not appear to be separated from the rest of the unit by a 1 hour fire rated barrier. The door also has a ventilation grill. 101:12.3.2.1.2(2)(a)
a) Demonstrate in the plans the separation of the one hour fire barrier.
b) Remove the ventilation grill or, provide documentation the grill is equipped to comply with the fire rating of the door and prevent passage of smoke and fire/heat.
----------------------------------
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Response: One hour rated partitions are now shown around the Glove Room on sheet A1.0. Door Louver has been removed from sheet G3.0. Dampers have been added to sheet M1.1.
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Reviewers Response: The wall separating the "Glove Room" from the Studio is not identified as being fire rated, only identified as a sound wall (S2 wall type). The Glove Room door and hardware shown on sheet G3.0 still identifies the louver in hardware set #3 notes.
The following need to be addressed:
a) identify the portion of the wall between the Glove Room and the Studio as 1 hour fire rated,
b) remove the louver from the hardware set,
c) Hardware set #3 needs to show an approved door closing device.
Thursday, March 24, 2022, 1245 hrs. DF: Mr. Sullivan called regarding sound wall separating the Studio/Lobby wall Fire rating. Mr. Sullivan said that he will note the sound wall will be fire rated 1 hour the entire length. Any question please contact him at 480-296-5809.

7) I am unable to find the emergency lighting (EL) manufacturers specs from the make/model information provided on sheet E1.0. The EL provided is via wall packs. With my experience, a typical wall pack EL usually mounted 8' above the floor covers approx. 8' either direction with a 3' wide path parallel with the wall. The EL illumination does not cover the designated egress travel path.
With the layout of the Delta 8 Rigs and the weight lifting benches, emergency lighting is needed in the middle of the room and along the designated egress routes. The lobby egress path especially around the main entrance does not appear to provide adequate EL coverage. 101:12.2.9
a) Provide the EL’s manufacturers specification sheets so I can verify the egress paths noted above. OR,
b) Add additional ELs to cover the egress paths noted above. OR,
c) Provide EL photo-metrics demonstrating coverage of the egress paths noted above.
----------------------------------
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Response: A photometric analysis was completed and it was determined that additional emergency egress lighting was needed. See sheets A3.0 & E2.1.
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 DF: Reviewers Response: I was not able to find sheet E2.1 in the plan set. No photometric elevation provided.
Provide photometrtics elevation demonstrating compliance with 101:7.9.2.1.1 (1.0 ft-candle average).
Thursday, March 24, 2022, 1245 hrs. DF: Mr. Sullivan called regarding the emergency lighting. After discussion it is determined that the emergency lighting is sufficient and will be verified at time of the Fire Final.

- Assembly (Studio) Wall and ceiling finish will meet Class A, B or C. 101:12.3.3.3
- Floor finish shall meet either: a) ASTM D 2859 for carpet and carpet like materials or b) has a minimum critical radiant flux of .1 W/cm2 for non-carpet flooring. 101:12.3.3.5.3.
If there are multiple finishes, label each spec sheet identifying each product, its location AND highlight the area showing illustrating it meets the applicable Code requirement.
