Plans for a 263 head wet NFPA 13 fire sprinkler system for a classic car storage building.  The system is designed as ordinary hazard group II (.20 density) and light hazard (.10 density) with 3 remote areas.  The scope of this review is for the installation of the aboveground only, the underground will be separate.  FDC shown on backflow.  Plans NOT APPROVED for the following reasons.

NFPA 13 9.2.1.3.3.2  Provide spec sheet for suspended ceiling tile grid showing it meets ASTM C 635.

NFPA 13 9.2.1.3.3.4 *   Where flexible sprinkler hose fittings are used to connect sprinklers to branch lines in suspended ceilings, a label limiting relocation of the sprinkler shall be provided on the anchoring component.
An example of language for the label is as follows: CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THIS LABEL.Relocation of this device should only be performed by qualified and/or licensed individuals that are aware of the original system design criteria, hydraulic criteria, sprinkler head listing parameters, and knowledge of the state and local codes including NFPA 13 installation standards. Relocation of the device without this knowledge could adversely affect the performance of this fire protection and life safety system.

 

 

Design Criteria Discrepancies. 

Criteria Storage Area- Quick Response 155 degree Brass Uprights

Plan Storage Area- Standard response 200 degree heads.

 

Criteria- Office .10/1500sf

Plan- Office .10/1036sf using reduction 11.2.3.2.3.

 

For correction there are 3 options.  1. Revise the plan meeting the design criteria.  2. Have the EOR rubber stamp your plan approved with no exceptions. (not sign and seal.  3. Have the EOR revise the criteria to match the plan.
