Plans to install a ~21'x20' mezzanine in an existing storage building. The revision is NOT APPROVED as submitted for the following reasons.

The plans show a single means of egress from the proposed mezzanine. A single means of egress is permitted from a mezzanine where common path of travel is met. NFPA 101:7.4.1.1(2) Based on table 42.2.5 the common path requirement for this occupancy is 50 feet. The plans indicate 86'9" common path of travel. Indicate on the plans how you plan to remedy this.

Does the mezzanine open onto the trailer storage area, or only the tool storage room?
Note: Per NFPA 101:8.6.10.2.1 the mezzanine cannot exceed 1/3 the open area of the room in which the mezzanine is located. If the mezzanine opens only to the tool storage below, this is exceeded.

Provide the occupant load for the mezzanine in accordance with NFPA 101:8.6.10.3.1, or demonstrate that all walls will not exceed 42" high.

What will the mezzanine be used for? If storage, provide the proposed storage layout. What will be stored? Will it be stored on the floor or is shelving proposed? Will there be any flammable or combustible storage or hazardous materials storage? If yes provide SDS sheets for what is proposed and demonstrate compliance with the applicable section of NFPA 1: and/or NFPA Standards.
