Plan REJECTED for 9026 sqft store protected with NFPA 13 automatic fire sprinkler system due to LDC 6.03, (more than 1/2 mile from utilities). This is reviewed under 2010 Fl Fire Prevention Code as mercantile.

Please address the following comments:

 
1. Pg FP-1: Although an ENGINEERED sealed Design Criteria for the fire sprinkler system exceeding 49 heads was submitted, it is incomplete and unable to approve the plan until this information is provided. (The Design Criteria is not a full set of shop drawing.) THIS IS WHAT IS REQUIRED BY FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 61G15-32.004,(A-J) Common Requirements to All Fire Protection Engineering Documents.

E: Characteristics of water supply? (Tanks, minimum duration & reliability for most hydraulically demanding design area)
F: Although tanks are being used, what are size of tanks required? (Hose allowance is not required NFPA 13, 12.8.1)

J: Quality & performance specs? (Fire pump...)
 
2. A fire alarm is required by the building code chapter 901.6.1 for this building to monitor the integrity of the fire sprinkler system only. However, under the Code Analysis on page LS-1 it states a fire alarm and smoke detector system is to be installed. Please state your intention regarding the fire alarm system. If the value of this system is over $5000, fire alarm criteria will be required to be signed and sealed by an engineer.  

3. All unit equipment (emergency lighting) shall be wired ahead of switch or control of normal lighting circuit serving that area. The branch circuit feeding the unit equipment shall be the same branch circuit as that serving the normal lighting in the area and connected ahead of any local switches. The branch circuit that feeds unit equipment shall be clearly identified at the distribution panel. In a separate and uninterrupted area supplied by a minimum of three normal lighting circuits, a separate branch circuit for unit equipment shall be from the same panel board as that of the normal lighting circuits and provide a lock-on feature.

 

4. Is shelving intended to be in the storage room? If so, please show the layout in this room. Also, a clearance of 18 inch from the bottom of the sprinkler head to the top of storage is required. Please take this into account when planning your shelves.
