2) The fire sprinkler system must be electronically supervised per NFPA 101:7.5.1.3.3 based on the utilization of the exemption for egress remoteness. Based on archived plans, it does not appear that the existing backflow preventer is electronically supervised. Provide documentation from a fire alarm contractor indicating that the all fire sprinkler valves including the backflow are electronically supervised, otherwise this exemption cannot be utilized. Also the hallway leading to unisex 103 and 105 exceeds the dead end allowance without a supervised sprinkler system as well. NFPA 101:36.2.5.3.2.
----------------
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW- Per RTC, "Current system is not supervised. System to be revised to be supervised. Revised plans to be submitted as a deferred submittal and installed during construction."
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW Reviewer Response- Will verify that backflow is electronically supervised when the fire alarm shop drawings are submitted.

4) What is the height of the proposed product shelving/displays? If it is high enough to obstruct visibility, the common path of travel will be exceeded from the plan upper left area of the sales floor (grid C2) even with any applicable credit if the sprinkler system is supervised. Currently there is no exit access signage indicated on the sales floor. NFPA 101:3.3.48, 36.2.5.2, 42.2.5.
-----------------------
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW- Per RTC, "Shelves only 69" and visible above additional exit signs have been provided, refer to A111a and E101a.
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW Reviewer Response- A couple lights have been added. I still cannot tell on a 2 dimensional plan whether or not the exit signage and exit access signage are sufficient. I will defer this to final inspection where the inspector will identify whether or not sufficient exit and exit access signage is in place. Additional lights may be required to be installed at that time.

6) Doors 109A and 107 indicate security keypads on plan details, however this is not indicated on their indicated hardware group. (109A-600, 107-400). Identify all doors that will have special locking arrangements and describe the arrangement in accordance with NFPA 101 7.2.1.6. If electronic strikes are utilized similar to HW group 700, indicate this. Electric strikes with mechanical hardware is recommended by our office for the ease of code compliance.
-----------------
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW- Per RTC, "See spec on door keypad system for alarms. Door 109A is provided with a readily visible exit sign and exit sign along with a panic exit device. Door 107 is for the office and not used for egress exiting door is provided with a storeroom lock and alarm."
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW Reviewer Response- This will be verified and confirmed at the time of final when the functional test is conducted per code.

8) The plans indicate that motion sensors will be used in the areas of egress. Provide a specific note and detail on the electrical sheets to indicate how you will comply with the following:
NFPA 101 7.8.1.2.2: (1) switch controllers must be listed (2) switch controllers equipped for fail-safe operation and evaluated for this purpose (3) timers be set for a minimum 15 minute duration. (4) motion sensor be activated by any occupant movement in the area served by lighting units (5) If building has a fire alarm, activation of fire alarm must activate the switch controller (6) lighting control device may not turn off any lights realized upon for activation of photo luminescent exit signs or path markers (7) Lighting control devices may not turn off any battery equipped emergency luminaries, unit equipment or exit signs
-------------------------
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW- Per RTC, "1 thru 7. Refer to sheet E301 note #E19 The EMS drawings will show the switch controllers and tie into the fire alarm controller per the code requirement."
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW Reviewer Response- Sheet E301 note #E19 indicated "Refer to EMS drawings for additional information on EMS devices mounted in power wall." I am unfamiliar with the EMS drawings referenced so I reached out to the design team. Per Mr. Renato Lopez with the design team (Architectural Services) the references to EMS drawings are the Fire Alarm Shop Drawings, and that the information with be provided when they are submitted as a deferred submittal. I mentioned that the extent of the Fire Alarm contractor involvement is typically to provide a module(s) that is tied into the normal lighting or lighting system which is activated in the event of an alarm to activate a function. I mentioned that our office needs a detail as a reference indicating that the lighting system will be tied into the fire alarm and how this would be achieved. He directed me to C1/E301 which has a blowup detail of the lighting system with a key note E25 which states the following: "Fire Alarm panel to be hard wired in place by the fire alarm contractor. Coordinate location with fire alarm system installer prior to rough in." This will satisfy the comment. Will verify FA tie in to the lighting system when the FA shop drawings are submitted.

9) Exit access exit signage
In the back room area, the exits from the space are recessed and not visible from the main "L" shaped storage area since the exit signes are wall mounted over doors 102 and 109A. Provide directional exit access signage that is visible from the "L" shaped storage area. Ensure that you provide signage near electrical 113 directing people from both sides of the "L" to the opposite side since both exits are required. NFPA 101:7.10.1.5.1

11) Subsequent to comment 4, if the shelving/displays are a height that cannot be seen over, exit access signage will be required to direct occupant to the exits, since without the exit signage over the doors would not be visible. Currently no exit access signage is indicated on the sales floor. NFPA 101:7.10.1.5.1
------------------------

13) The plans appear to indicate work being performed in the neighboring vacant (future) tenant space. Examples: exit/emergency lights (E-1016, Demo AD-101B, Demo roof AD-121B etc. Any work in the adjacent space will require a separate permit and submittal. Remove all indications of such work from these plans and submit for it separately.

15) Per General Note 9 on sheet E101A, the battery backup normal lighting fixtures are labeled "EM". Based on the lighting schedule on sheet E-102, the fixtures with a "E" on the end of the fixture number are also battery backup fixtures. Either add "EM" to all of the "E" fixtures on the plans or modify the note on E101A to clarify.
-------------------
Tuesday, September 2, 2025 PJW- Per RTC, "Acknowledged. Emergency designation (EM) has been added to all L4E lighting fixtures. The remaining emergency lighting fixtures were previously labeled and required no changes."
