These plans are for a 3000 square foot single story structure located at the airport and will be used as an air passenger deplaning & enplaning and baggage handling for the U.S. Customs. Per NFPA 415, Definitions, this facility will be classified as an Airport Terminal Building, and will be reviewed as such using NFPA 415 chapter 4.
Based on our review the plans are PENDING APPROVAL as the following additional information is needed:
1. Please note on the plans type of construction as defined in NFPA 220. 415.4.1.1 requires airport terminals to be I,II, or IV construction.
2. Please identify on plans the interior finish for a airport terminal. NFPA 415,4.1.2 requires interior finish to be Class A Assembly See NFPA 101,Table A.10.2.2.
3. Please review requirements for Glazing Material Covered Openings Facing the Ramp. 415.4.1.5.3 states where potential spill points are located less than 100 feet horizontally from glazing material covered openings in airport terminal building walls facing the airport ramp, shall be protected with an automatically activated water spray system in accordance with 4.1.5.3.1 or an automatically activated, listed fire shutter system in accordance with 4.1.5.3.2 (See Annex C)
4. Additional Exit signage is required in public areas See NFPA 415,4.3.2
5. The following additional Fire Marshal Permits are required for this project. Holds will be placed on the build permit and no inspection past framing (105 Hold) until these permits are submitted & approved.
- Fire Main Underground (unless underground part of fire sprinkler contract)
- Fire Sprinkle
- Fire Alarm (Full System see NFPA 415,4.5.2)
