Plan APPROVED for adding a kitchen, remodel 3 classroom making one of them into a cafeteria in an existing school with a fire alarm but not protected by fire sprinklers. This is reviewed under 2007 Fl Fire Prevention Code and is classified as a modification per NFPA 101, chp 43. Newly constructed elements, components and systems shall comply with the requirements of other sections of NFPA 101 applicable to new construction.
This bldg is being retrofitted with fire sprinkler system.
Total sqft of bldg is 26,632 including the addition.

In order to meet the remoteness requirement (NFPA 101, 7.5.1.3.2), the side door at the serving line will be a required exit. Those in the cafeteria are required to see this exit sign. An extra sign may be required inside the cafeteria. **Exit sign has now been added.**

An ENGINEERED sealed Design Criteria for the fire alarm system over $5000.00 is required for the building permit. (FBC 105.3.1.2(5) We are unable to approve the plan until this information is provided. (The Design Criteria is not a full set of shop drawing.) THIS IS WHAT IS REQUIRED BY FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 61G15-33.006,(A-F) Common Requirements to All Fire Protection Engineering Documents. IF THE FIRE ALARM ADDITION WILL NOT COST OVER $5000, PLEASE PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION. **If fire alarm work is over $5000, criteria will be required.**
A separate permit is required for all fire alarm work and a HOLD is placed on framing.

The Grease Exhaust Hood noted on this page and several other pages throughout these plans are conceptual. A separate permit will be required by the Fire Marshal. A HOLD will be placed on the building permit and NO INSPECTION past slab will be done until this permit is submitted & approved.

The Grease Exhaust Hood requires a FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM. The Fire Marshal's Office requires a separate FIRE SUPPRESSION PERMIT and a HOLD will be placed on the building permit whereby NO INSPECTIONS past slab can be done until this permit is approved.

FS 633.061 requires a license or permit of organizations & individuals who: service, recharge, test, mark, inspect, install or hydrotest fire extinguishers. It will be necessary to use a Licensed Fire Extinguisher Contractor for identifying the location & type of extinguisher to use.

The occupant load shall be posted in a conspicuous place near the main entrance/exit from the room. Please refer to the Fire Marshal Notation on the plans as to the approved maximum occupant load to be posted. The Posting should read,"Maximum Occupant Load 132 Persons, by order of the Fire Marshal" (NFPA 101, 12.7.8.3.1) This is for the cafeteria.
