The plans are incomplete. We need the following information before we can complete the review:
• Cut sheets of all components, appliances and devices shall be submitted with the plans for verification of calculations and specifications.
Note: the attached page(s) are guidelines set up to assistance fire alarm contractor when submitting plans. Your plans can be rejected if the information on the guidelines are not included in your submittal.

GUIDELINES FOR FIRE ALARM PLANS
In order to expedite the plans review process, and to insure code compliant design and installation of fire alarm systems according to 2001 Florida Fire Prevention Code and NFPA 72 (1999) and all other applicable codes, the following requirements will be necessary for review of fire alarm plans:
• Submit 2 or more copies of working drawings for review by fire and building plans examiner before installation of any fire alarm components. (One “job copy” will be returned.)
• All drawings must be 1/4 or 1/8” scale and shall identify all rooms and spaces and indicate the scope of work.
• Provide project name and address.
• Provide a copy of the contract show the cost of the contract. Contracts over $5,000.00 must bear the seal of a State of Florida registered engineer. (See FBC 104.4.1.3(5))
• Provide a current copy of the qualifier’s license.
• All systems must specify “power-limited” or “non-power-limited”.
• All devices shall be compatible and shall be listed for fire service use by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory.
• All strobes must have their candela rating indicated on the floor plan and on the riser.
• All strobes shall be located as per NFPA 72, 4-4.
• All horns or speakers shall be located as per NFPA 72, 4-3. (refer to A-4-3.1 for average ambient sound levels)
• Smoke detector and heat detector spacing shall comply with NFPA 72 chapter 2. Indicate ceiling height if greater than 10’ and conditions if other than flat. (I.e. sloped, beams twin tees, bar joists etc.)
• All fire alarm panels, power booster, devices, modules, dialers, components, appliances, initiating devices, & relays shall be shown on the floor plan and on the riser identified by their own unique identification number.
• Each indicating device circuit, signaling line circuit and notification appliance circuit shall be shown on the riser.
• Provide the maximum capacity in amps (or watts for speaker’s circuits) for each notification appliance circuit & indicate the load or current draws of each circuit.
• Provide the maximum number of initiating devices for each initiating device circuit or signaling line circuit & indicate the specific number & type of each device.
• For upgrades & additions to existing systems show the capacity of the system & all modified circuits, the existing load or current draw of each circuit or component the capacity available, & the additional load of the added devices or circuits.
• Designate all initiating device circuits, notification appliance circuits & signaling line circuits by class or style or both.
• Conductor types, sizes and number, and raceway sizes shall be indicated on the riser.
• Cut sheets of all components, appliances and devices shall be submitted with the plans for verification of calculations and specifications.
• Provide detailed battery calculations for each battery backup. The manufacturer’s format supplied in each control panel manual is the preferred format.
• All dialers shall detail the means of transmission to the receiving station.
